Thanksgiving is a time to show our appreciation for all the things we’re deeply grateful for: friends, family, turkey, and of course, football. But there is another group that could use some holiday love…

A good IT provider will always be there for you. They are never too busy to help you, and unlike football teams, they rarely disappoint (or get injured). So this holiday season, consider finding a way to say thanks to the people who always have your back in a tech crisis:

Give thanks by…

1. Giving us your problems. This might seem counterintuitive, but a great IT provider thrives on offering the best solutions for any tech need. If there were no requests, there’d be nothing for us to do!

2. Suggesting a good book. IT providers should always be striving to learn more about the industry so they can better serve their clients. We’re open to new ideas, curious, and since we’re problem-solvers, we like to be in-the-know!

3. Giving a referral. There’s no greater compliment than getting a referral. It’s genuine, and it shows that the client has enough confidence in the vendor to suggest them to others. Now that’s a great way to show gratitude. Unsure if your vendor is referral-worthy? Check out these warning signs.

4. Social media shoutouts. Posting recognition on Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook is invaluable in an age where online profiles act as the faces of most companies. Sending a line of praise into your vendor’s social hemisphere is a public yet authentic way to say thanks.

5. Sending an Amazon gift card. Tech people love Amazon, especially since there’s such a wide variety of fun tech toys. You really can’t go wrong with that.

6. Simply saying, “Thank you.” IT providers don’t need grand gestures. We don’t need giant teddy bears or boxes of chocolate (although we aren’t totally opposed…). Sometimes, a simple “hey, thanks” can be the best form of appreciation one can give.

Any one of these six items is a great way to spread the Thanksgiving cheer to your vendor. Trust us—it’ll make the whole day brighter.

Now we want your input! When trying to find a tech vendor who’s worth thanking, what is the most important thing you look for? Take our poll and see what other IT professionals think matters most in a tech vendor.
