With technology rapidly changing, the Schools and Libraries Program (also known as E-rate) is a hot topic for schools lately. We know you probably have a good idea about what the program is all about, but here’s a quick overview:

According to the U.S. Department of Education, the E-rate Program provides discounts of up to 90 percent to help eligible schools and libraries in the United States obtain access and funding in five categories of service: Telecommunications, Telecommunications Services, Internet Access, Internal Connections, and Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections. The program is intended to ensure that schools and libraries have access to affordable telecommunications and information services.

Our experience

E-rate is an interesting and sometimes complicated subject. Summit’s been working with the E-rate Program since 2015, and we know we’re a great option to keep schools’ networks up-to-date with new technology.

One example of our experience is in the summer of 2017, a mid-sized school district in Texas requested a quote for networking hardware, specifically switching, wireless access points, and UPSs. Summit’s turnaround is extremely quick, and once the order was placed in July we got everything delivered within the month.

We want to make sure schools can begin working on the next project before the start of the school year. Speed is a huge part of our service, from our rapid responses to our delivery times.
